It took 3 long days, but our basement is once again dry. And although we love BSNH, we hope to never see them again. Except for service maintenance calls.
After 48 hours to let the cement dry, G can reinstall the subfloor, followed by the new carpeting, followed by the contents of the room, toys and all, which are all presently being stored in the dining room and garage. Where they will remain for at least another week before they can be relocated.
If you ever decide to have your basement waterproofed, the drainage around the perimeter of the foundation is a given. But don't let them tell you they don't need to recognize any cracks in the foundation floor. These, too, will need to be drilled and installed with drainage pipes, backfilled with stones, and recemented. Do it right once the first time, and you won't ever regret it.
Here is the project from start to finish. First, our dining room in its present condition! The boys love it!
The following six photos show water damage. Most of the subfloor could be salvaged, thankfully.
Here are the arteries marked for drilling. That would be the lines on the floor and not the young'uns in the photos.
Arteries drilled out. Not an easy task when there is a lot of ledge underneath, as was the case for us!
Finally, piping, backfill with stones, and recementing.
