Up to here with H2O

The sun has finally made its appearance after too much soggy weather to mention. But mention it I am and do you want to know why? Because less than 5-1/2 years ago, we had Basement Systems install their wonder product so we would never have to deal with water and wet carpeting and shop-vacs (all together) again. Ever.

But forever doesn't always stay forever when you want it to. We got water in the basement. Apparently you can have these unfortunate situations occur in phases.

That puts us at phase II. The contents of our basement are now crammed into the dining room and garage. Where it was once a finished basement, it is now unfinished again. I wonder if that means we can get a tax reduction since it is again "unlivable space".

So we're fixing the problem. In the meantime, the house is combining as our dwelling and storage unit. Who needs a Pod when you have a perfectly good dining room and garage to store your things?

I do. But G doesn't, although he promises to have the house back in order as soon as possible. I just can't see it being that way again for another month. But I would love to be proven wrong.

Today, I abandoned my untidy house for the beautiful summer-like weather outside. After I dug the trench where the pipe that will connect to a new sump pump soon to be installed, I took the boys down to the swamp. I watched them skip stones and search for tadpoles and frogs and wade in the water, doing what boys love to do. I can't understand why their level of enjoyment is always higher when they can get themselves dirty in the process of their exploring. Hence, showers and baths for everybody tonight.

In other unexciting news, I am moving one of my stone walls. It is the blue wall at the top of the driveway. It has been collapsing and looking not like it should, so I am challenging myself again to the task and doing it better this time around.

And now, it is just about time for Wattamelon Role sherbert.
