Beyond babyhood

Yesterday was Jeffrey's 3rd birthday. Three is a great age, because most kids that age don't want much. As in Jeffrey's case, he only wanted his 'birday take' and a card. But we did throw in a couple of gifts for good measure.

Jeffrey turning three marked a huge milestone at the Stanley house. NO. MORE. DIAPERS. Ever. Not even at night! It is amazing how you just know you are beyond the babyhood years, no matter how precious and sweet that tiny newborn is you are holding.

So for Jeffrey's birthday, we kept the crowd to a cozy managable number. Under a dozen. G made a delicious lasagna and we enjoyed Carvel's ice cream cake. I had gone out to get a dozen balloons earlier in the day, and by the time our guests arrived, there were less than a half a dozen left. Aside from the few that inevitably popped, some were lost to what could have been catastrophic measures.

You mean you haven't heard the latest on the balloon saga? Well, Johnny and Suzie, if you don't live in this great granite state, be glad you don't because you'd have to contend with this new law.

Well, did you hear that in NYC-if you are caught with a MP3 player, or a cell phone to your ear, while crossing the street, they want to fine you-evidently they are trying to pass this into law-don't we have other things to worry about other than balloons or whether or not your listening to your favorite music while crossing the street? My oh my...........
