Okay, so I went grocery shopping today, one day later than usual, but only because it took us all day yesterday to close the pool. Hey, give us a break. First time pool owners. We'll be pros next year. Our neighbors beat us and got the cover on their pool first, but we'll beat them next year.
Anyway, not to get off the subject here. I went grocery shopping today. Saturdays usually find me at the grocery store. But it doesn't matter. I saw today what I saw last week and the week before that and the week before that. And I don't know why, but every time I see it, I get really irritated and annoyed about the whole thing.
I am left to wonder how in the world we every survived without precious cell phones! It's bad enough that I see more and more people driving with one hand on the wheel and one holding the phone to their ear. My, we are getting talented at multi-tasking. I am not knocking anybody who is expert at this; I myself am guilty of doing both at the same time, although I am hardly expert and I only do it in extreme circumstances. I have the $29.99 monthly plan where I get 200 anytime hours and unlimited nights and weekends. I never go over my minutes; I can't upgrade my phone because I refuse to change my plan and the carrier doesn't want to offer me one because they aren't really profiting much from me now anyway. Fair enough. I get by.
Oh, again, I'm off the subject. Kind of. Cell phones. Grocery shopping. So you know what really, really irritates me when I go shopping now? It is passing people in the aisles, shopping with their spouses. But here's the thing. The spouse isn't walking with them. No, the spouse is at home. Conversing on the cell phone with the one in the store, asking the one at home if he or she wants this or that.
Now I can understand the quick phone call about one thing. Although I don't even do that. I'm talking about witnessing people doing their entire shopping trip talking on their phones, getting input from the spouse at home for every single item that should or shouldn't be put into the basket. I find it blatantly pathetic that one person can't go to the store and make the executive decision about what to buy without having to check with somebody at home. What the hell would these people do if we didn't have cell phones? I manage quite well shopping week to week and if I happen to forget something, well then, too bad. Hubby can go get it himself if he wants it bad enough or it waits until the following week.
Forget about the person with more than 12 items in the express check out aisle. Who cares? If you can't go shopping without being so dependent on your godforsaken cell phone and multi-tasking your role in choosing items and checking with your spouse, then you need to really get a life.
Yeah, it's been a really rough week and maybe I'm a little cranky. But even if I was really happy, I know I'd feel the same way. Good grief. What are we coming to?
Would you get a grip and as Jordan would say "chilax" ! Life is way too short to get stressed out about other people. You can only control what you do not what others do. Did you know stress takes years off your life? Miss ya and oh by the way....no stress here in paradise!
