We woke up this morning and it was a cool 65 degrees in the house. Slightly chilly, but not unbearable. Christopher came downstairs and wrapped himself in a blanket and put the heating pad on him. Last time I checked, it was still August here.
If there is one thing that I really despise, it is having to get out of a warm bed and bracing myself for the assault of cold air. But I know those days are not far away and I am going to have to suck it up and get used to it. With the price of oil where it is and only likely to go up, we refuse to pay the outrageous cost and therefore, our thermostat will not be set at 69 degrees this winter. No, it will likely be set at 60. Okay, 62, but no higher. I cringe just thinking about it! If only we could bottle heat and use it when we need it!
But! We won't freeze to death. My fingernails may be blue and my teeth may chatter now and then, and I may lose a ring or two on my finger, but we will survive. We'll just all be huddled in the living room by the fire that we plan to have every single day.
We're ready. Bring on the cold.
It was 92 here today. We have fires in the winter for ambience. I don't like the heat, but I don't like the cold. I guess I need to choose, huh? OK I'll take mid 70's year round. Where is that again?
ReplyDeleteWow! That's lots of wood - I hope you didn't have to chop all of that by yourself!
ReplyDeleteI don't like getting out of bed when it's cold, either. It just makes it that much harder to get up and get going in the morning. It's hot outside now, but winter will be here before we know it - BAH.
62 degrees...wowie. You would probably think it was summer at our house if you came during the winter, because we keep our thermostat at 72. (I guess we hate being cold more than we hate dishing out the extra funds to prevent it.) :)
