"Four"

Tommy and David are enjoying a final day on the slopes. The rest of us headed home. Despite Christopher's injury, we had fun, just not as much as we would have had there been no bones broken. I did get Joey out yesterday afternoon on the pony tow, but he doesn't have the best temperament when it comes to learning a new skill. Add a windy cold day, and he wasn't very enthusiastic about wanting to master the skill.

Nonetheless, it was a memorable trip. Here are the highlights.
Ski patrol arrived to assess Christopher's situation.

Getting the sled ready to transport Chris down the mountain. We were told it was the last one available, which means the conditions were perfect for breaking a leg!

Peek-a-boo!

And they're off! G and I had to ski the rest of the way down. I would have rather rode in the sled with Chris!

A not-so-happy Chris waiting for the doctor.

X-ray showing a fractured right tibia. Can you see it?

Due to the swelling, the doctor opted to put a temporary cast on.

Back at the Loon First Aid center the following day, getting fitted with a permanent cast.

Chris and the first Ski Patrol medic who had arrived on the scene the day before. Notice Chris already has autographs!

Chris had to be carried to and from the facility. We were fortunate to have our friend David along to do the honors!

Jeff and Joey enjoyed the indoor pool and definitely liked riding the luggage carte over the slopes!

Oh, and you're wondering about the title of this post, no doubt. At one point when we were waiting for the second medic to arrive with the sled on the mountain, the first one asked Chris to rate his pain on a scale of one to ten with one being hardly any and ten being the worst he's ever felt. In his tiny voice, Chris answered, "Four." He really was a trooper throughout the whole ordeal. We would all be feeling pain near ten if Tommy had been the one who broke his leg!
