The good, the bad, and the ugly

The good news is G accepted the spectacular job opportunity presented to him last Friday. Director of Sales Operations and all the perks that come with it.

The bad news is G hasn't slept well since the opportunity was handed to him.

The good news is G thought long and hard and came to the conclusion that he could not, in good faith, accept this job after all since traveling and he don't get along well at all. Never have, never will. Too big a price to pay for happiness and it isn't worth it. I mean, who would want to travel to such horrible places like The Netherlands or Australia? (Besides ME and anybody else who would sieze the opportunity!?)

The bad news is the ship has sailed after he reneged on the offer today. There is no turning back. He will carry on as the Reports Analyst. But that's probably good news, since it means he is happier and when he is happier, everybody is happier.

The bad news is I can't seem to obtain any kind of amnesia to be able to erase the whole episode from my memory that it ever occurred.

Which brings me to the ugly and blatant fact that he let this too great opportunity slip right through his fingers. Just because he doesn't want to go to Australia!

Sometimes what seem to us to be "great opportunities" are brought to us as a test. If G. thought long and hard about it and declined the job, then he made the right decision. Trust me, no matter how glamorous the job may seem, if there is a lot of traveling that goes with it, it may not be worth it. Had Ray known he'd be traveling as much as he is with his current job (even if it is still within the US), he never would have accepted it. Being away from his family as often as he is and for as long as he is just isn't worth it. And I have to agree. It gets pretty old.
P.S. For what it's worth, I knew G. wouldn't accept the job and the reasons why. He made a wise decision.

That was a tough decision. Traveling for business is not all its cracked up to be.
