Imagine That

The following is a copy of the back page article written in Jeffre's Journal in April, 2005:

Have You Seen the Nu-Nu's?

Each one has had one. His very own imaginary friend. Tommy's was Jeffie. Jeffie joined us sometime in Tommy's second year and stuck around for a while. Jeffie got blamed for all the incidents Tommy claimed he himself didn't do. She was mischievous, to say the least. Yes, Jeffie was even a girl. But sadly, she died. Apparently got hit by a car. It doesn't seem like Tommy misses her much and he hardly grieves her loss. He just kind of left her in the past, just like he one day just abandoned his beloved Mr. Bear.
Then Pipper came along. Actually, sometimes there was more than one Pipper, but they were all identical and tended to show up when we least expected it. The Pippers are still around, as far as we know. They come and go, but do pop in from time to time. We gather one day they will just move on also and Christopher won't think anything of it when we ask where they have been.
Recently, the Nu-Nu's joined our home. Only unlike Jeffie and Pipper, the Nu-Nu's are monsters. Little munchkin monsters that hide under Joey's bed and gang up on him at any old time. Only Joey can see them, although sometimes Christopher has the clairvoyant ability as well. So only they can fight and scare them off. But we are doubtful they will be gone forever for at least a couple of years.
And that brings us to Jeffrey. It would be very unlike him not to create his own imaginary friend or friends. Then again, he is the only one of the four who never took a pacifier, who didn't require a haircut before his first birthday. Perhaps he will be too busy keeping up with his brothers to bother with a Jeffie or the Pippers or Nu-Nu's. We'll just have to wait and see.

Fast forward to today. Jeffrey will be turning three in a couple of weeks. Last week, we were introduced to Frostin. However, unlike his brothers' imaginary friends, Frostin is not invisible. You can see for yourself. He's right there on his hand. He never admitted it, but we are guessing that Frostin has a sister or brother who is there on Jeffrey's foot.

So there you have it. I just can't imagine what it would have been like if Jeffie, Pipper, the Nu-Nu's and Frostin hadn't ever been a part of our lives.
