Challenges dared..., and completed

I knew I would accomplish several things on vacation. Obtain perfect and equal tan. It's not perfect, and certainly not equal, but nonetheless I have been sun-kissed. Finished my book, still swimming, still visiting the beach. Got the best night of sleep last night at the Hilton with G. Can't really compare a blow up mattress to a king-sized bed on the 11th (very top!) floor in a room facing the ocean on N. Atlantic Ave. in Daytona Beach. Heaven. Yes, it was. We slept with the sliding door open all night, listening to the waves pounding on the shore. Did I mention it was heaven? More or less our delayed 10-year wedding anniversary celebration. We finished the champagne.

Challenges? Well, on the Daytona Beach strip, there is what is called the Slingshot. You get in. Sit down. Shut up and hang on. It slings you in the air at a 100 mph velocity as high as 365 feet. Tommy wanted to try it and it is a 2-person ride and even though I didn't have enough cash on me to pay for us both, the operator graciously let me go along for the ride since he would have somebody go anyway. Two for the price of one. What a deal. $25 for both of us to experience the ultimate sling shot. Not only that, but they video tape it and you can watch yourself screaming afterwards, assuming you can still stand steadily on your two feet. The video only costs $15, but alas, he offered to sell it to me for the remaining $5 I had left, the same $5 he gave me as change when I paid him the $25 for us to take the challenge. It's quite a rush. But I don't think I'd do it again.

The next day, after a day of shopping, I got my naval pierced. It's not as horrible as my sister made it sound. Although the jewelry doesn't cover my ugly 'outee'. It will do for now until I can get a better one.

Tonight we are taking the boys to the water park and to see fireworks, a weekly summer event here.

Meanwhile, my little guppies have become quite the little fish. They discovered how much fun it is to go under the water and to jump and float. Even Jeffrey is keeping up!

Better go eat before the food is gone.
