Dear Jesus,

I teach religious education to 11 precocious, lovely and smart little girls ranging in age from 6 to 8 years of age. It is so rewarding and I enjoy my time in the classroom, albeit as short as it is!

I have a few girls in my class this year who were in my 1st grade class last year and next spring, they will all be making their First Communion and First Penance at the church. The books the church uses are nothing less than excellent, but I try to come up with some of my own ideas when I can. A certificate is presented to each child, and completely taking advantage of the fact that I also work part-time in the Religious Education office, I intend to give each girl a scrapbook of some of the crafts or projects we did over the course of the year. They are not expecting it and I hope they will keep them with their most prized items to look back on years ahead, perhaps when they are making their Confirmations.

Last Sunday, I asked them to write a short letter to Jesus. It wasn't until this afternoon that I got to read what they had written, and I was so delighted with the innocence they expressed in their letters, I just had to share a few with you.
