March winds and April showers

After a soggy day yesterday, the sun shined today, albeit with the typical March winds. The boys were outside, so I went out to see what they were doing. I found Christopher and Tommy sledding down the slide snowbank onto the driveway. This is an indication of just how much snow that has yet to melt. God help Mother Nature if she sends another snowstorm in our direction.

It is usually around this time of year that I am itching to get outdoors. I checked the garden and other areas where the snow melted enough to see if there was any hint of new life and there was! Here is the start of what will eventually be a whole bunch of Day Lilies.

Below the Day Lilies are new tulips poking through the ground.

Below is what the garden looks like now. Blah. Brown. Ugly. But just wait a month or two! New and colorful life will start to fill the spaces where I will have raked last year's dead leaves away and it will soon be beautiful!

Jeffrey insisted on posing for a picture.

And, see? Christopher doesn't let the fact that he is dependent on a pair of crutches to get around keep him from getting outside. Sure, he's in his pajamas, but he's still outside. It just means a little less laundry for me to have to do. Christopher is thoughtful like that.
