While they may not always be good at sharing their toys, the boys are good at sharing their germs. Jeffrey is slowly recovering from whatever virus dragged him down yesterday. The 90 minute school delay this morning may have been a blessing in disguise for Christopher, who suddenly complained of a stomach ache moments before he was to head off for the bus. I might not have been convinced he was telling the truth had it not been for his free-falling tears and low grade temperature and the fact that some obvious virus lurks about our house.
I went out to clear the driveway for the second time this week, and might have left it, except for the fact that I was itching to get out of this house and today had a reason. Tommy had an appointment at 2:30, and I planned to take him for a haircut afterwards since the salon was near where we would be. Under the inch of snow was a layer of sleet and ice. There is no end in sight. While I was out, Joey came running out with the phone. Apparently he thought it was more important for me to take the call than it was to put shoes on his bare feet, but the snow apparently got to him and he ran back inside and hunkered down under the desk, where I found him crying. I think he was experiencing the numbing pain you get when you expose yourself to the elements without protection.
I went back out, finished clearing the driveway, and returned inside. I put on the television to confirm my suspicion that they were canceling afternoon Kindergarten and decided it wasn't worth going out for Tommy's appointment today, especially with his brothers in tow, two of whom were sick. I canceled the appointment, called the school to let Tommy know that his appointment was canceled and conceded to the 4th day in a row of not leaving the house.
I took my temperature, but surprisingly, it was normal. I guess the digital thermometer can't detect when somebody has cabin fever.
I hear you on the cabin fever - I'm so sick of the weather, I feel like throwing a tantrum at this point, but I don't think it'd do any good.
