Wii had a wonderful Christmas this year!

I am writing this with one eye closed already, as it has been a long day. Did I mention what a long day it has been? It's coming up on 7 PM and I still won't get to sleep early enough tonight.

We enjoyed a quiet day yesterday, nothing out of the ordinary except for unusually mild weather for this time of year. I don't recall ever going to church without wearing a winter coat, but I did it last night. We watched movies that we rented and when the kids were finally settled into bed after putting food out for Santa's reindeer, began the tedious task of stuffing the stockings and putting the gifts under the tree.
We crept into our own beds at midnight, only to be awakened 2 hours later by excited children, whispering in the dark. They invited their oldest and youngest brothers to join them and since we were all up at this point, Tommy couldn't understand why we just couldn't unwrap the gifts already. We were all up, anyway.

They had gone through their stockings and opted to put the television on with the volume down low rather than return to their beds as was suggested. As if the gifts would disappear or they would figure out whose was whose. G and I managed to get nearly four more hours of on-again-off–again sleep before Tommy requested that we get up because it was the reasonable hour of 6 AM now and those gifts needed to be opened. Jeffrey, bless his little heart, did manage to catch a few extra winks in those wee hours like his pĂ„rents did.

After the hustle and bustle of unwrapping gifts, checking out new toys, and cleaning up, and while Billy, our next-door neighbor, came over to check out the Wii under G's supervision, I snuck over to his house for a drink and conversation with his parents. I left G a note saying where I went because if I had told him verbally, I suspect he would have begged and pleaded to go in my place while I stayed back with the kids. See how I made that work to my advantage?

Anyway, it was a nice day with G's family. The kids haven't tired of the Wii yet, and I haven't had a chance to try it. But all in good time. I can wait longer for that than for the boys to go to bed, but they will hit the wall eventually. And then I'll be right behind them and I won't mind waiting another day to play the game. It's not going anywhere soon, nor are the memories dancing in my head.

I hope yours was merry, too.

Merry Christmas to you, too! I know this greeting is kinda late, but I've been really slacking on my blog reading lately. I've definitely gotta get caught up!
