For lack of a better post, I am offering some things for which I am thankful, and not because it's Thanksgiving, because frankly, it is not one of my favorite holidays and I'd just assume skip it, but I am obligated to make happy memories for the kiddios, so I go through the motions to get through to the official Christmas season.
In no particular order (and these are random; I am not going to include the obvious things such as family, home, etc.):
*Getting to watch the seasons change, even though, if I recorded the weather where I live for an entire year, I would probably have noted more gray/cold/blah days than sunny/warm/bright days.
*Humor expressed in my children. It is humbling.
*Sleep.
*Country music. Because it ROCKS.
*Cozy fires on a weeknight.
*Colors, all of them. It is too bad people who only see things in black and white are blind to the variations and tones of differences.
*Law enforcement at work. And those who had already pulled over the driver, who was failing his sobriety test miserably, as I drove past on my way home late last night.
*Synchronized silence from the children. When it is most needed.
*Innocence in children's eyes when Santa is nearby.
*That I never took up the bad habit of smoking, and that I carry the hope I will pass the desire not to want to try onto the boys.
*Friendly's Wattamelon Role Sherbert. Seriously, if they ever, ever phased this dessert out, I think I would surely die from withdrawal.
Happy Thanksgiving. Go easy on the cranberry sauce.
